1:29 pm - e-mail fraud - part 2
I can't believe it.
After calling yahoo customer service yesterday and having my account restored to me (password changed) so I could go in, change the password and delete, the hacker somehow managed to REACTIVATE MY ACCOUNT!!!
More of my friends received messages again today.

I called yahoo and asked them to permanently delete the account.

I really REALLY hope this is the last we'll hear from that creep!

9:05 am - A victim of e-mail hijacking
I know I haven't posted in a little while, I've been pretty busy with this mommy gig. But I thought this story of what happened to me this week would be important to spread:

As some of you may know from the spamming you received from me this week, I was a victim of e-mail fraud.
You probably received an e-mail from either messykitty@gmail.com or messycat8@yahoo.ca saying that I was stranded in Scotland, having been mugged, with an unpaid hotel bill and no way to get home and was desperately in need of a great sum of money to be wired to me via Western Union.

I had a yahoo account and a gmail account . Gmail was the recovery address for yahoo forgotten password, etc. and someone sent me a fake e-mail saying that yahoo was deleting all inactive accounts and that I needed to log in and check my info. As I do not actively use the yahoo account but kept it open, I didn't think it was odd, however I am usually more vigilant - you should never follow a link in e-mail, always go to the source site and log in there.

After I logged in to what looked exactly like yahoo's log in page and confirmed my info, I logged off and went on to other things. An hour later, when I tried to access my gmail account, I was locked out! I could also not access my facebook since it too is linked to my former gmail address. I immediately took action to have my facebook account locked (if some of you were wondering why my wall was blocked, that is why) and proceeded to work on getting back into my e-mail accounts.

I was able to regain access to the messykitty@gmail account by the end of the day however I was still locked out of messycat8@yahoo and evidence in my gmail trash folder confirmed that the invading party had taken steps to change my yahoo password and security questions. He used the address austy2010@hotmail.com Not only that, but several deleted conversations showed that he or she had actually been e-mailing back and forth with friends who had responded to my plea for help, impersonating me and even providing my home phone number (with some numbers reversed) as a way of contacting them!

Also, after investigating the matter, gmail notified me that a log-in to my account had taken place in Nigeria!

To sum up the story, I have regained access to my accounts and will be shutting them all down and using a new address.
I have also made an official report to the appropriate fraud prevention authorities.

I am telling you all this story so that none of you fall victim too. It was very imprudent of me to blindly follow a link, I am really very cautious normally, but it just goes to show how if you let your guard slip just one time what can happen.

Hackers suck!

2:06 pm - Success! A variation of vegetable pad thai
I was hankering for something Asian style for lunch and successfully made a very nice pad-thai sort of dish with what I had kicking around:

6 oz Rice noodles
- soak in hot water to cover until softened (20-30 minutes)
- Drain; cover and set aside.

Mix in a bowl:
- 1 tbsp thai fish sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 2 tbsp sugar

Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat until hot

Add 2 tbsp peanut oil
- swirl briefly

Add 2 eggs, well beaten
- slowly pour into the pan an and cook, stiring vigorously until set
- Remove to a plate.

Add 2 tbsp peanut oil
- swirl until very hot
- stir-fry garlic until browns very slightly
- onions
- carrots
- 1 to 2 small green chilis seeded and chopped
*I had bottled jalapenos so I used that.

Add noodles and stir until well coated

Add fish sauce mixture and stir well

Add eggs and stir well

Add coarsly chopped peanuts

1/2 tsp basil

1/2 tsp corriander

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

12:22 pm - Woodstock 40th anniversary!
It's the 40th anniversary of the original Woodstock!
So my dad decided to put some music to some old 8mm home movie footage he had of his trip to Woodstock. :0)
You'll see him at the beginning goofing around with his friends - he's the one in the big glasses and blue t-shirt they try to film in the bathroom. ;p
And my uncle Billy has on a black and white top and black curly hair.

3:26 pm - MJ tribute flash mob in Montreal ;p

This was not our best one ... this last mob was for the media but the ones earlier in the day were surprises in the middle of crowded areas around town.

I'm watching an episode of "Weeds" and I've just come across a scene where the older kid is wearing what looks like a Rocky Horror Picture Show t-shirt and I think "Cool".

Then there's a close-up and I realize it doesn't say Rocky Horror Picture Show but rather IRAQI Horror Picture Show. And it's in the same font and colors as RHPS.

12:16 pm - Too much alphabet in my alphabet soup!
I made a pot of homemade alphabet soup yesterday.

The bag said 1/2 a cup. It didn't look like enough so I put a full cup.

It's really good except there's too much alphabet in it!

4:40 pm - Dido & Aeneas v.1.2
My friend Mika puts on some fabulous mixed media (we’re talking opera, electronic music, video projection, dance….) productions and this weekend he is putting on his TechnOpera Dido & Aeneas v.1.2 at le TOHU.

And it’s FREE! But you need to call to reserve tickets as it’s selling out fast!

I’ll be part of the show on-screen only and will be attending the show in character. ;0)

Here’s the info if you’re interested:

Host: Theatre POD http://www.theatrepod.org

Date: Saturday March 14, 2009
Time: 8:00pm
Location: TOHU
Address: 2345 Jarry Est (corner D'Iberville)

The design is a 1960's recording studio where an edgy pop art 3D movie adaptation of this tragic opera is underway. This technOpera tells the story of an attention-seeking starlet who falls victim to the star-making system. It's an over-the-top, pop-art variation on Purcell's baroque classic Dido and Aeneas that will have you riveted to your seat!

Artistic direction & electronic arrangements: mïka
Choreographer & witch: Jean-Marc St-Yves
Music coordinatore & spokesperson: David Lapierre
